Mary~
I'm not sure if you remember me and if you did, I would be amazingly impressed!  You & I spoke on the phone back in August of 2006, with regards to the Fay/Kritta litter that was born in 06/06.   My husband I are were looking to bring home a labradoodle in early fall and were specifically interested in Blue Boy at the time.  But due to our schedule, we wouldn't have been able to take Blue by the time he needed to leave you, as we were scheduled for a late summer vacation.  So, needless to say we did not purchase one of your pups.

Mary, although I have never met you personally, I wanted to say THANK YOU for your time and information, that you gave to me in abundance on the phone that day I called you!  You graciously gave me over 1/2 hr of your time and answered a ton of my questions regarding the breed and puppies in general.  And, other than the breeder we eventually got our dog from, no one else did that for me!  You were the 1st breeder I spoke to and based upon your information, my research was taken to a new level and your kindness, professionalism & information, set the bar for all other breeders I spoke with going forward!  Thank You for speaking to a random stranger on the phone as long as you did, your passion and love for your dogs and this breed to abundantly obvious and from your site, you can see that all of your "parents" feel the same way I do.

Today is our boy's birthday, 8/17/07.  His litter was born today and he came home to our house on 10/14/06.  We purchased him from Hudson Doodles in NY and the breeder, Curtis was wonderful to work with.  As I think back on all we did before Raleigh came home and the time spent making sure this was the right decision, you come back to memory, as being a kind soul affirming that decision.  Raleigh is a standard and we can't be more in love with him.

I hope you do not find this email to be strange, but I just wanted to say Thank You and let you know you really helped my husband & I become very good parents.  I visit your site from time to time, as its full of good grooming & puppy stage info.  Also, I like the pics your post.  I attached a few pics of my baby, Raleigh, as a baby and below.  The below shots are from May, so he's grown a bit more, but I think he's pretty much done.  I think he looks like Uno, from Brandy's 1st litter!

Hi Mary -

Tyler says HI!!!  Greg and I want to say a big THANK YOU for bringing so much happiness into our home!!   We ADORE Tyler!  He is such a sweetie, so smart, so loving and so darn cute!!!  My apologies for not sending pictures – My daughter just got a new camera for her birthday so will ask her to get right on it!  Tyler is doing just great - healthy, growing, eating really well (loves the raw food), playing, sleeping through the night.  No problems what so ever!  We have recommended you to several friends and will tell anyone who asks that there is only one place to go when looking for a labradoodle - to Mary!

How is your summer going?  How are your other puppies and family?  We'll stay in touch - but wanted you to know - Tyler is loved, loved, loved!!!!

Thanks for everything - Cathy and Greg

Hi, Mary and Richard!
What a heartbreaker Snicker is.  Wow.
And Buttercup/Boomer-it's-still-evolving is the same.  We are head to foot in love.  What a great puppy.  I'm in the heaves of finishing school for the year, but I will get a raft of pictures to you, I promise.  Thank you for sharing with us.  We need a reunion.  Are all the families close by?

Thank you for being in contact.  You have given us such a gift in our puppy.  And Raspberry loves him, too.
Love to you both ~

Hi Mary,
We had another trip to the vet on Friday.  She received another shot,
She was 11.3 pounds.  She's growing so fast.  The vet just
continues to praise her and how good of a puppy she is.  We love her!!
The vet wants me to wait one more month before we start some
professional obedience training.  We work with her, but it would be nice
to have professional help.  She's sleeping from 10 at night to about 7
in the morning.  She still has had no accidents in her crate.  We are so
blessed.  You gave us a wonderful puppy!  Hope your new puppies are
doing well.  They are adorable!

Mary,

Just wanted to email you to let you know that Daisy has been great.  She survived two long car rides -- far better behaved than my children as she did not whine, cry, or otherwise complain at all.  Everyone who has met her has commented about how unbelievably cute she is.  My mom could not get over what a good puppy she is -- never had such an "easy" puppy -- and how smart she is.  We've made very good progress with housebreaking, and she is learning to accept her crate.  She is definitely a very loving dog!  She is laid back (she is very submissive, and my only worry is that perhaps she may be too submissive), but continues to have a few playful periods per day when she really cuts loose.  She loves to sneak up on her toys and pounce on them.  When she is sleeping, she prefers to be on someone's feet.

The girls have been very good with her and she has responded to them quite well.  She spent the car rides either on someones lap or on her bed in between the girls.

All in all, things are working out extremely well, so just wanted to let you know and say thanks once again!

Sept 2006 (Update)
Hi Mary,
Just wanted to drop you a note to say that Daisy is doing great thus far!  Everybody who meets her loves her.  She is well behaved, smart, friendly, and (still) incredibly cute.  The girls really enjoy playing with her.  Just got back from the Vet for her second vaccination, and she checked out just fine -- and is growing nicely.  Housebreaking is coming along well, and she has no problem going into her crate at night.  In fact, she really has developed no bad habits, which frankly surprises me!   Daisy learns quickly, and we are going to begin training with the Invisible Fence soon.  She is a little bit timid at times in new situations, but not so much that it is an issue. Sorry I didn't include any pictures; we've taken a bunch but I've got to get them on the computer (I promise to do so and email some).

Hope all is well with you, your family, and your dogs!

Good Morning!

It was great to finally meet you!  Thank you so much for such a delightful puppy.  Our ride home was splendid.  Nelly sat in her crate with her head on Erik's leg.  She never whined or cried.  I believe we stopped more for the Restroom for me than for Nelly!  She did not get sick or have an accident.  We could not have asked for a better travel companion.  She slept in her crate on my bed last night.  I had the door unzipped with my hand on the inside which I think she liked because when I would try to take it out she would get upset.

Sept Update......

We love how she looks straight at us.  She doesn't miss a beat.  Everytime I have taken her outside (raining all day here and still) she does *business* and right back inside.

Mary, I really, really love this puppy.  She is so nice and smart.  I can not get over how she assess a situation before she reacts.  My older son, who is not really into the other dogs, I guess when I am not around he makes the biggest deal of Nelly. (as my other kids have spilled the beans to me :)    He truly likes her.

Thanks again for all your hard work,

Best,
Nina

Mary,

I can't wait to Brandy/Dewey’s  next litter!

Foster is amazing.  Although he loves to bark to get attention :) We are working on that.

We had him weighed today At 4 months old  he is 37.6 lbs.   (Izzy is 31.5, which is amazing since she was only about 26lbs when we got Foster...I guess she likes her new food)

I'll measure him tonight.

We're feeding them the dry Nature's Variety "Raw" Chicken, with the Nature's Balance Roll food chopped up and mixed in.  We tried the nature's balance dry this week and they loved it!  So, we have a little variety for them.

Feel free to use me as a reference for Brandy/Dewey puppies......we adore him and would highly recommend one.

Foster is such a dream, I'm sure Brandy/Deweys next litter will follow in their BIG brother's footsteps.

Sept 2006

Thank you so much for the pix.  It is great.  I did what you said with the crate and it is helping.  Only a couple whimpers last night.  And Gizmo is doing great with the sitting and potty training.  He doesn't tell us but we take him a lot and he goes.  It's great!!!!

Thank you for all the info.  I think I would like to keep up with your puppies in general.  I am just so overwhelmed with how wonderful you are as a person and a breeder.  I have met many breeders and none like you.  Also, your dogs seem to turn out so wonderful, it will be fun to keep track.

Oh by the way, my husband is very easy.  Got to love that!!!

Were you able to purchase the labradoodles from Macys? I just got shipping confirnmation.

.

Take care and good luck on Monday.

Sept 2006

Hi, Granny Mary

Really enjoyed speaking with you on Thursday too, felt bad we couldn’t talk longer.  .  Again, can’t thank you enough for all your kindness you’ve given Nancy and me.  Doyle definitely shows what a loving/caring environment he was raised in.

He made out great at the Vet’s on Friday.  As you well know, everyone absolutely adored him.  They couldn’t believe how calm, no shivering/shaking, etc. Told them, his breeder receives all the credit for how well adjusted he is.  He was content to lie in my lap and chew on the petite size nylabone dental chew bone.  His vet said he was in excellent health,

Thank you for all the great advice you gave me…put Doyle in the back seat when we went on Friday.  Did try to come through between the seats, but he’s too small to reach the top.  Put blankets on the seat and on the floor, behind the front seats.  Eventually, he settled down and was fine.  Planning to take him daily/every other day for short car rides, gradually increasing the distance.  He’s a darling little dog!!

Potty training is going well.  He is such a bright little guy and such a delight.  When Tom came home on Friday, he went right up to him, tail held high and wagging, which made me happy since he had been with me Tuesday thru Friday.  Know Tom enjoyed that.

Just looked at the clock, better get going, time for the before lunch Potty walk.  Again Mary, it was so nice talking with you on Thursday, and please know Doyle gets kisses from Granny Mary, along with kisses from the Rogers, and of course lots from Tom & Helen everyday.

Nancy could not say enough about what a wonderful person you are, and it’s very apparent with Doyle how special you are.   Please feel free to call, when it’s convenient for you.

Fondly,

Helen KnausJ

Mary,

Cooper is doing fantastic!!  You did such a wonderful job with him. He sleeps through the night without crying.  I let him out at 6:00am, so funny how he just sits and waits for me to come get him.  Perhaps my dogs are comforting to him.   He sleeps in the same area that Koda and Kaboo sleep, just in his own crate.  They are all together at night, or when I leave the house.  He certainly has NO FEAR FOR MY DOGS.  He certainly holds his ground!  Koda and Kaboo are overall good listeners, and gentle, but boy does my Koda love to play!  I think Cooper really enjoys her, even though they get a bit rough at times where I have to break it up.  Cooper just goes back for more!  He's a riot. He stands on his hind legs and waves his paws to Koda, they are so entertaining.

Everyone in the family adores him, and gives him all the love in the world.  You should see Todd with him.  He's Todd's best friend, and I think Coopers favorite.  He runs to daddy all the time. You truly gave us a very special pup, and I really think God meant for us to have him.  Things just seem to work out for a reason.  We go to the vet on Monday at 10:30.  I'll fill you in after our visit.

Thank you again for our Cooper.  I can't tell you what an excellent job you did with training him, and giving all the love he needed from you.  You are a special person to us.  As hard as it was to let him go, always remember that he is in the right place with us forever. We will always protect him.

Really cool news!  I have decided to train Koda and Kaboo to earn their Canine Citizen Certificate through the AKC.  Of all places,  we have a trainer here in Canfield that is affiliated to Youngstown State University,  They can start at one year of age, which they are now.  I hope to someday use them as therapy dogs in our school.  I want to expose them to counseling, speech and hearing, and general activity programs for children. Cooper will be involved too!  But won't be certified till next year. I think he could bring so much love and happiness to the program.  I can't wait!  Now I think I figured out why I have such passion for my dogs.  I will make them the best they can be.  Perhaps I'll have # 4 someday if all goes well.  And what a great learning experience for my family.

I'll be in touch.  Lots of love,

Here are a couple pictures of Godiva at home already.  She isn’t shy, she just casually walks around checking things out.  She went potty outside immediately both jobs! .  She is so soft and precious.  We just love her to pieces!  She’ll be sleeping in our room tonight.

We love this chocolate “Godiva”!!!!

  Hi Mary,

She is sleeping right between Ken and I right now.  I think Ken is trying to claim her as his!  She had fun outside in the front yard wrestling in the leaves.  She loved the sound of it.  She didn’t care much for the leash but I want to get her used to it.  She is just so soft are dark, WOW!

I did get the bag that you sent.  I haven’t gone thru it too much as I have spent every moment trying to help her acclimate and feel as comfortable as possible.  She is going to be just fine.   Thanks for every thing.  I will highly recommend you as a five star***** Breeder!

I’ll clip her rear nails in about a week.  I like the first week to be a smooth transition.  The other dogs are curious but I don’t let them frighten her.  I let one around at a time for the time being.  I can’t wait to post her pictures.  I am just so proud of her.  I can’t wait for you to get your reds to feel like I do!

Have a great evening…..I got to get back to my Godiva!

Teresa

Hi Mary,

She slept in our room and didn’t make a peep until 5:00 a.m. and then it was a puny wine.    I got up and took her outside and she pooped immediately.  I took her back in my room in the crate and she went right back to sleep.  She is a doll!  She loves Maestro…..he’s gentle with her and she thinks he’s her playmate!  She’s eating great and just fits right in.  She not shy and very playful.

I just can’t believe how cute she is

Oh Mary, Godiva is so well adjusted and fits in this family like a glove.  She loves being outside and is just the Happiest Go Lucky little girl.  She  is extremely intelligent and knows what the word NO means.   This was just a fantastic mating Brandy to Kodiak.  They produced great puppies with fabulous temperaments.  You have done such a great job with these puppies!  We are very excited to have Godiva and just love her to pieces!  I just can’t thank you enough for Godiva!

She slept all thru the night last night.  I get up and let her out and she goes potty immediately!  She’ll be so easy to train all the way around!  We are excited to make her a Therapy Dog!

I will keep you updated!  Thanks again for all you have done!

Hi Mary

Brutis is a beautiful and wonderful puppy-  How much does he weigh - WOW I carried him outside and thought holy cow he feels so solid!    He is doing well.   Last night was hard for him .  I put him in the wire crate and he howled, cried and howled more!  I slept beside him  on a dog bed and kept my fingers close by .  Today he is much better and has gone in and out of the wire crate all day without incident.  Right now he is sleeping in the wire crate ( in the living room) door closed and is happy boy.   He is gentle, calm and loving.  I love him.   I am reading everything I can get my hands on about the raw diet and will do my best!    The girls love him too!   He is gentle with them.

THANK YOU

Linda

Hi Mary

just wanted to let you know that Brutis is doing great.

He has been sleeping in the crate at night - all night!

Just the first night he cried.   We seem to be getting into a routine.  My vet appt is tomorrow .  Is there a form you want filled out or just a note from the vet that I fax.

I continue to educate myself on the raw diet and am learning.

Brutis is a wonderful puppy - he is going to be the best dog of all!

Hi Mary,
I forgot to say . . . What a great package of information you put together.

You should write a book yourself! (Think about it. I could be the editor.)

Figgy update:

Well, Figgy is wonderful! Absolutely no signs of anxiety or fear.

She's had three meals and been outside about 10 times. She's had no
accidents in the house and has pottied outside all day. She peed at least 10 times, and pooped twice. I'm sure she'll need to go again soon.

She's too smart, though. We gave her praise and treats everytime she peed, but believe it or not, I think she learned today to just squat down for a split second and then run back to us for a treat. This after she did an initial long pee. She'd then do the lightning squat for a treat about FOUR or FIVE times. She's now getting praise for pees and now and then a little teenie treat for a pee. Praise and treat for a poop.  She's a very smart little cookie. I think she might take after her mom. She's been looking out the kitchen window--just to see what's happenin, and checking out the kitchen counters, which we are trying to discourage with a No, plus praise for getting down.

 Later,
Sara & Kevin
!

Hi Mary,

Fay and Figgy had a great day. They went shopping: to Woofs! and Office Depot, and they went for a walk in the big cemetery about a mile away from our house. We have never seen any other dogs there, and we've been going there for a year. We figured this would be a good place for a walk since she is not vaccinated yet. Figgy walked/ran on a leash and had wings for lunch. They are so cute together, and Fay is so happy. Oh, and also, we had a neighbor and his two little girls (6 and 3) come visit, and Figgy was great with them. Fay sat on the couch and observed but gladly took treats.

See you tomorrow.
Sara, Kevin, Fay, & Figgy
P.S. No "accidents" yesterday or today, and Figgy goes to the door to go out! She's so smart. Also, she can "shake"  when asked, and raises her little paw.

Dear Mary,                                                       07/03/04

In all the excitement of picking up our puppy, I failed to adequately express our heartfelt appreciation for all you've done for us, and for all these precious puppies.  During the six days since we adopted our Suzy, it has become even more apparent that we owe you a debt of gratitude.  So, here goes:

1.  Cleanliness.  You have a lovely home, inside and out.  We were absolutely amazed that you have raised nine puppies with three adult dogs within your own home, and there was not even a hint of puppy odor.  Everything, including the puppies, was clean, fresh and in order.

2.  Diet.  You did extensive nutritional research on canine diet, and chose to make all their meals from scratch, grinding huge quantities of chicken, vegetables and other healthy ingredients.  No easy meal in a bag for your babies.  You even fed Sierra, their mother, fresh goat's milk while she was pregnant.  Unbelievable.

3.  Health.  All the puppies have been under the watchful eyes of veterinarians since birth.  You chose optional expensive procedures to insure their optimum health and safety.  You put their health ahead of your budget.

4.  Love.  Hand raising these puppies with extraordinary love is evident by all the things you've done for them.  It is evident in the way our Suzy is comfortable in our home with new people and our two other dogs.  She is not afraid of the ordinary sounds of the household, such as dishwashers and vacuum cleaners.  She is just very well adjusted emotionally.  When you gave her over to us with tears running down your face (not to mention the several phone calls since to check on her health), I knew you were my kind of dog person.

I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Suzy is as healthy and happy as Mother Nature and Mother Mary Burkovich could make her.  She had loved and healthy parents, a wonderful prenatal diet and healthcare, and unbelievable care for the first 10 weeks in your home.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, Mary.  Job well done.

Missouri

Mary,                                                                         07/04/04

Jules wants to call her Riley, the girls want Candy Sparkle Heart- I think we've compromised on Riley Heart- to distinguish from her uncle Riley Ryan.

She slept in hercrate with no problems- she just went in during the evening to lay down by herself.  She woke up at 3 and we went out, but no pee.  Then at 6 no pee.  So we fed her breakfast and let her play with Lucy a bith.  Saw her sniffing so we ran outside and she did both!  Good girl! She has had only 1 accident last evening.

I posted some pix on the chat page and will send some of the others with this.

Thanks for this wonderful new addition to our family.
Brian

Mary,                                                                           06/29/04

I cannot thank you enough for the very special gift you have given us.  She fits right in with us.   She seems so happy.  She is a true blessing.

Do not shed another tear over Maggie unless it is tears of happiness.  I know we will all see you in the future.  I’d like very much for our children to meet your family and your labradoodle family!

You are so conscientious Mary.  We  are lucky to have such a good breeder.  I  would be happy to give you a letter of recommendation when you need it.

Talk to you soon,

Suzanne
